Our Story

The story behind Tumaini Grace Home

Tumaini Grace Home was founded by Obed Nday, whose personal journey of resilience and education shaped his mission to uplift vulnerable children. As a former refugee, Obed experienced firsthand the challenges of displacement and uncertainty. After spending part of his childhood as a refugee in Burundi, he returned to his home country, Uvira, South-Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). There, he received support from Enfant du Monde, an organization that generously covered his school fees, allowing him to continue his high school education and paving the way for his future success.

With the support he received, Obed thrived academically and went on to pursue higher education, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri. Today, he continues his studies as a graduate student while also serving in the healthcare sector, where he leverages his experiences to advocate for and empower vulnerable communities.

Recognizing the transformative power of education and opportunity, Obed founded Tumaini Grace Home to give back. His mission is to ensure that orphans, refugees vulnerable children, and young girls impacted by war and cultural barriers have access to education and the necessary support to build a brighter, more hopeful future.
